We are always looking for additional contributors! If you are interested in submitting an article for publication, please send your submission to Glenn Anderson at ganderso@rvaschools.net.
Athletic administrators are encouraged to submit material in one of the following formats:
• Ideas That Work
Short ideas, tips, or suggestions that can enhance the efficiency of day-to-day practices for athletic administrators. Typically one or two paragraphs describing a helpful resource, effective procedure, or successful program.
• ADvice
A concise article (approximately one page or under 1,000 words) focused on a contemporary issue or trend in athletic administration. Include an introduction outlining the issue and describe your school or district’s approach or response. Captioned checklists or self-explanatory guides are welcome.
- Books/Podcast/Who to Follow: Suggestions for helpful/useful books for athletic administrators to read or Podcasts to subscribe/listen to, or good individuals to follow on Twitter.
• Best Practices
This segment highlights proven processes, checklists, and practical information foundational to the role of the athletic administrator. Articles should be about one page and focus on actionable procedures that can assist others in developing best practices.
• Feature Articles
Longer submissions (typically four to five pages, or 1,500 words or more) that explore topics of broad relevance—such as athletic financing, sport specialization, facilities management, or risk management. Include:
a. A clearly defined issue or topic of interest.
b. Discussion of its immediate or long-term effects.
c. Your approach or management procedures in addressing the issue.
Where possible, include checklists or graphics to illustrate your points and cite any references used.
Thank you for your continued contributions and commitment to supporting the mission of the VIAAA!
